International Competition
Theme: ‘The beauty of the corps and the beauty of the body’.
The best lace from this poit of view will be awarded a place in the Lacemaking Museum of the International Biennial of Sansepolcro.
The Scientific commitee hopes to develop new artistic languages as much as possible, abandoning old design styles, whileobserving more and more precisely the traditional techniques of needle, bobbin,
crochet and similar works.
Regulation

Artists of every age, colour, religious faith and country can go in for the prize.

Groups, Lace Schools, Museums and Lace Art Institutions as well as individuals can compete.

Only a work can be sent.

The winner of the last edition cannot participate in the competition of the following edition, but can submit a lace that, if chosen, will be admitted in the exhibition as an “out of
competition” work. -
The drawing must be an original idea; It must not come from any existing artistic or artisan work.

The work has to be new. One cannot participate with work that has already taken part in another competition or which has been shown at other exhibitions.

The subject, figurative or abstract, will by synthetically illustrated.

It must be a bobbin lace or a needle lace, any other technique is not admitted. The piece must reflect the tradition of the country it comes from.

The lacer is free in choosing the dimention of the lace.

The lace is free in shaping the piece according to the traditional or classic style, or in a modern form, or just as a contemporary work of art 8even tridimentional).

A photograph in black and white (minimum 10x15 cm.) of the item and a photo of a particular of the same item must be sent within April 30 2010.They must be faithful to the real. Together with the photo, please, put in a card with the title, the name of the lacer and designer, the date, a very synthetic description and technical specifications of the piece.

The work will be sent to the above address when you receive the advise of admission from the Jury Commission that examines the photos and slides.

If you don’t receive the above advice of acceptance of your work, this shall not be sent, but the photos will be kept in the archives of the Biennial Prize as a record of your partecipation.

The partecipation to the competition is free from the partecipation to the XIV Biennale. And so a lacer can be present at both Exhibitions or only one.

The lace must be sent by registred parcel post with return receipt, or by a carrier.It can be delivered by hand too, by previous telephone agreement.

Shipping customs and duty charges are not at the expense of the Biennial, but at the expense of the owner.
