Regulation

  1. The XIV International Lace Biennial Exhibition is open to groups and individuals. It is open even to Lace Schools, Museums, and other Institutions of Art Lace.

  2. The Exhibition is open to the artists and Institutions of every country and people in the world.

  3. The Show is only for bobbin lace and needle lace. Different techniques are accepted only if these are representative of a Reality where the tradition of bobbin and needle laces does not exist.

  4. Every exhibitor, in group or a single individual, can send up one to three lace items. The lace items must be made to fit in the glass show-cases measuring 70x70 cm. of the base and 20 cm. In the height.

  5. The lace must be original. When inspired by a pre-existent work, sources must be cited.

  6. The lace must be hand-made and must reflect the tradition of the country it comes from.

  7. Larger works can be accepted, subject to examination and permission of the Presidency of the Biennial.

  8. Works of a large size, monumental or such that they have to be exhibited outside a showcase, have to arrive furnished with the necessary supports for their presentation in the exhibition, otherwise they will not be shown.

  9. The lace must reach the Presidency of the Cultural Centre of Sansepolcro before 30th May 2010.

  10. The lace must be sent by registred parcel post with return receipt or by a corrier. It can be delivery by hand too, by previous telephone agreement. Shipping customs and duty charges are not at the expense of the Biennial, but at the expense of the owner.

  11. Upon receipt of the laceworks a letter of acknowledgment will be sent to the sender. This letter will communicate to the countries that don’t accept cash on delivery the amount in Euro that the Italian postal system has indicated should be sent to the Cultural Center of Sansepolcro for the return shipping charges.

  12. The lace will be sent back to the sender at the end of the Show within 31st December 2010 and the relevant expense will be paid by the owners. If requested, the parcel can be collected personally.

  13. The return of the lace will be carried out in the manner that the Biennale believes is the most secure and convenient. Should the owner of the lace require another type of delivery. this must be indicated at the time the lace is sent to the Organization.

  14. A photograph measuring 10x15 cm. of the item (or items), must be sent to the Presidency of the Cultural Centre of Sansepolcro before 30th April 2010 for the selection of an image, which will be inserted in the catalogue of the Biennial. The insertion does not involve any expense for the owner.

  15. The photo, received after the mentioned date, will not be included in the selection.

  16. Together with the photo there must be a description and technical specifications of the lace shown un the picture, as well as informations regarding the history of the local lace and news on any present activity.

  18. The exhibitors can send advertisingg literature or any other publications on the history of their local lace up to nowadays, so that they may be placed in the exhibition room at the disposal of the public. Also cassettes VHS may be sent, they must be on uptodate lace production, and so they can be showed, one by one, during the period of the Exhibition.

  19. During the exhibition, laces are insured by the XIV Biennial against the normal risks of damage and theft.

  20. The lace arriving by the aforementioned deadline, must carry on each piece an indication of its market value in order that they may be insured. Those that do not carry such an indication, will not be insured and the Biennial will not be responsible for any possible damage or deterioration of the articles.

  21. There will be no reimbursement for material damage which occurred during the return to the sender if not directly notified to the forwarding agent as soon as the goods are delivered.

  22. Participation at the Biennial carries, on the part of each participant, the unconditional acceptance of the present Regulations referable both to each section and possible others that the Organization might wish to add to ensure a greater certainty and success of the enterprise.

  23. The board of the Biennial Directors has the authority of chenging the present formalities if it will be request for the full success of the Exhibition.
